Welcome Back Volunteer Picnic Success!
The Extension would like to thank everyone who joined us for our first official “Welcome Back” picnic event. On Saturday, July 17th, staff and alumni gathered at East Cobb Park to honor the volunteers who helped us get through a rough 2020. We enjoyed a fun-filled day of food and fun, music and fellowship as we had the opportunity to welcome back volunteers, staff, and alumni to our men’s and women’s campuses.
A special thank you goes out to Taste of Chicago Restaurant in Kennesaw (3895 Cherokee St NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144 in the Shiloh Square Shopping Center); for the delicious beef hotdogs and their own family recipe coleslaw and to Adam and Gregg of Northwest Exterminating Good Deeds Team who supplied all of the paper products and brought their monster sized grill to make amazing homemade burgers. More hamburgers were provided by the lovely ladies of the Full Figured USA GA. These beauties brought the magic of pageantry and service to our picnic We also enjoyed live music by Tom Martin and Dennis Freeman from the “Back of the Bus” band. These guys kept the festivities going with a sing along mix of Rock and Roll favorites. We can’t forget the Staff versus Alumni Kickball Championship Game where the coveted prize trophy was at stake! Guess who won—NO ONE! Because in the end, no points were counted but we ALL had a blast! Special shout out goes to the staff (and their significant others) who set up everything. We truly enjoyed ourselves and we are so very thankful that we had the opportunity to say THANK YOU and WE APPRECIATE YOU to our volunteers.
